Welcome! I am Ms. Swilley and I am new to Carson High School this year as an educator. My journey at Carson began in 2008 as a freshman entering the same blue doors many of you entered as freshmen. Little did I know, my time at Carson was not over post graduation. I moved on to complete my B.A. in History with a minor in Secondary Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I loved the school so much I decided to continue on with my education! I am currently a part time Graduate student at UNC Charlotte with a concentration in American History. After completing my B.A., I found my way back home to Carson as an educator offered the privilege of teaching each of you!
When I'm not at Carson or UNCC, I am home with my three year old daughter, Eleanor. Shockingly enough (joke of course), she is named after First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. I fell in love with history in college because of the social challenges societies face. I encourage students to RESPECTFULLY debate "hot topics" and discuss controversies that may be a bit uncomfortable in my room. My goal is for students to develop the skills necessary to be well informed global citizens during their time at Carson and after they graduate. |
